BATTERY

The battery is the heart of an electric bike and Plugz has chosen a state of the art Lithium Ion battery, manuafctured under strict ISO 9001/1401 standards. They have Rohs and CE approvals.  Their powerful 36V and 10 Amp hour output is capable of provided up to 40 miles of pedal assisted ride on level terrain and with an average weight rider.

Lithium batteries offer many technical advantages over lead acid batteries: small volume, light, big capacity, high energy density, consitent power delivery.  They are safe and offer many environmental advantages: no leaks, no gas emissions, pollution free.  Although initially more expensive than lead acid batteries, they are much more economical on the long run because of their longer life and higher capacity.

These batteries are just like your cell phone battery, they have no memory, they do not need to be fully discharged before they can be partially or fully charged and will not suffer any damage from it.  

The battery can be easily removed from the bike to be charged at any 110V gound electrical outlet.

A full charge will usually take about 4 to 6 hours, we recommend, if you have the time, to leave it charging for another 2 hours after the light on the smart charger turns green. This is good for the service life of the battery.

If left unused the battery will self discharge at a rate of about 6% per month.

MOTOR;

Plugz bikes are equipped with continuous 250 Watt high speed brushless electric motors.  They are geared to provide addtional torque.  The motor is mounted inside the rear wheel for good balance and easy steering.

For reference an amateur bicycle racer can produce around 200W for approximately one hour and 175W is the energy required to move a bicycle with an average weight person on flat terrain without wind at about 20 m/hr.
